Did you know that:
  • The most common pollinators are insects (bees, wasps, moths, butterflies, flies, and beetles), but some species of birds and mammals (like bats) serve as pollinators also
  • Almost 200 pollinator species are considered threatened or extinct
  • Pollinators are necessary for 75% of our major food crops
A pollinator meadow can provide:
  • Native food (nutrient rich nectar and pollen) to sustain pollinators
  • Cover (to provide shelter and protection to pollinators from predators)
  • Places to raise young (butterflies need special host plants as food for their caterpillars)

A healthy meadow can also prevent erosion and help keep waterways clean!

Progress has been made on the pollinator meadow with the tarps laid and the observation deck started.  Thank you to our volunteers!
